If the nice folks at Microsoft had a sense of humor they would call this book Everyone's Guide to Magic Fingers. Macros, or automatic typing, record keystrokes that can be played back later. There are some really useful macros in this book and on the included disk, among them: macros that insert copyright notices, crop marks, cross references, and headings; strip extra paragraph marks from paragraphs; change superscripts or subscripts; and create macros. Whew! More than 50 macros are presented along with a solid tutorial that explains how to create thousands more. Although 1,000 monkeys couldn't create Shakespeare, 1,000 macros might be able to, if they were the right macros, of course. Nearly half of the book is devoted to the appendices that describe WordBasic (the macro creator), how to change macros created with older versions of Word, and a description of the macros on the disk.
