Overview

Having seen his portmanteaus safely housed in the hotel he chose, and having appointed his dinner hour, Barbox Brothers went out for a walk in the busy streets. And now it began to be suspected by him that Mugby Junction was a Junction of many branches, invisible as well as visible, and had joined him to an endless number of by-ways. For, whereas he would, but a little while ago, have walked these streets blindly brooding, he now had eyes and thoughts for a new external world.

Synopsis

A traveler discovers an inspiring child and secrets in the small town he visits in this Christmas tale from Dickens.

Library Journal

As World War II looms over Britain, protagonist George Harvey Bone suffers from blackouts during which he envisions murdering the no-good woman with whom he's smitten. An intoxicating thriller. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.

About the Author, Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens is probably the greatest novelist England ever produced. His innate comic genius and shrewd depictions of Victorian life -- along with his memorable characters -- have made him beloved by readers the world over. In Dickens' books live some of the most repugnant villains in literature, as well as some of the most likeable (and unlikely) heroes.
