Synopsis

These questions from the grandchildren, plus a diagnosis of terminal cancer, caused Bill to begin the life review that produced this book. Part family photo album and genealogy, his life story unfolds in a series of recalled memories and snapshots in time. Navy in World War II, returned home to marry and to begin a 31 year career in the US Postal Service. With only a high school education, he began as a humble substitute letter carrier in Baltimore, and worked his way up through the ranks to become a Regional Director. Bill's is a pull yourself up by your bootstraps story, told with the great sense of humor and positive attitude that characterized his life. zest for life. In his way of thinking, you might have to put more candles on your cake each year, but that didn't mean you had to grow up. Boy Scout leader, Little League coach and umpire, faithful fan at the sporting events of his offspring - he wore lots of hats, but liked his golf hat the best! allowed him to live out his last days with grace, dignity, and yes. with humor. Who else would put a smiley-face sticker on his head, bald because of the effects of chemotherapy, and then tip his golf hat to everyone he met, just to see them smile? Who else would show up the next week with a sticker that read: Advertising space available. Inquire within. Bill's life story is amusing and uplifting - a labor of love, and a letter of encouragement to all who read it.
