PreS-Gr 2-This charming book features a wonderful assortment of prayers. The inspirational verses are divided into chapters that focus on the many different aspects of a child's life, from the seasons, the animals, and the world around them to the people they love, their feelings, and holidays and celebrations. While some of the devotions are attributed to particular authors, others are original prayers written in short, easily remembered verses, such as, "The room is almost tidy/The toys are put away./I take a quiet moment/To thank God for the day." The pages are illustrated with cheerful cut-paper pictures of smiling, round-faced children, which reflect and enhance the gentle tone of this lovely collection. Parents and children will enjoy reading and learning these prayers together. A fine follow-up to Muff Singer's Baby's First Prayers (Reader's Digest, 1998).-Linda L.
