Overview

Edited by rising stars in the community, the team of prominent expert authors provides here authoritative first-hand information on the fundamental principles of nanomaterials, as well as their application in catalysis.
As a result, the book defines the concepts of nanocatalysis and gives a comprehensive overview of the science of colloidal nanoparticles in particular. Chapters cover micelles, nanoparticles in ionic liquids, dendrimers, nanotubes, nanooxides as well as microreactors, modeling, and characterization of nanocatalysts.
An indispensable reference for both researchers at universities and professionals in industry.

About the Author, Philippe Serp

Philippe Serp is full Professor of Catalysis at the Institute National Polytechnique de Toulouse (France) since 2005. His research interests include chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and catalytic CVD preparation of nanostructured catalytic materials as nanoparticles, nanotubes as well as nanowires, and the understanding of homogeneous catalytic reactions, fields in which he has published over 110 papers, among which 7 review articles, 12 book chapters and 13 patents. He was the recipient of the Catalysis Division of the French Chemical Society Award in 2004, and the APDF "Celestino da Costa/Jean Perrin" award in 2005.

Karine Philippot is Chargée de Recherche at CNRS, in the Laboratory of Coordination Chemistry at Toulouse University (France). Her research interests concern the development of synthetic methods based on organometallic chemistry to access well-controlled metal nanoparticles and nanomaterials in terms of size, composition and shape, and their application in colloidal or supported catalysis. She has published 71 papers, 3 book chapters and 4 patents.
