Children's Literature

Brightly colored photographs and a sensible design make this an excellent choice for many bookshelves. While researching any topic it is always nice to find a book that is easy to look through and provides detailed information without too many pages of plain text. This particular title is about fire, but there are many more titles in the "Exploring the Science of Nature" series that would spark the interest of students. A few of these include, Bubbles, Mud, Sunlight, and Reflections. Each book contains a glossary, additional reading selections, a list of videos, and web sites. The books in this series should motivate children and show them a variety of avenues to start their research. The entire collection would make a nice addition to a science lab or school media center. 2001, Gareth Stevens, $21.27. Ages 8 to 12. Reviewer: Sharon Tolle
