Synopsis
In introducing these 16 contributions, Mattson (National Institute on Aging, Baltimore, MD) defines aggression from an evolutionary standpoint; notes its counter-productiveness in modern society; and diagrams its environmental, genetic, and neurochemical roots. Insights from clinical neurology, neurobiology, psychiatry, family medicine, primatology, and related fields offer an integrated view of the causes of aggression, and behavioral and pharmacological approaches to preventing/reducing individual and group aggression at all ages. A timely chapter focuses on the link between violence and information age media and games. Annotation (c)2003 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
