Synopsis

Every child has secrets.
Some are fantasy.
Some are real.
Shocked to learn that childhood secrets still haunt her as an adult, author, Jackie E., is forced to reexamine her life to discover what was fantasy, what was real.

With amazing courage and clarity, the author unveils every secret of her chaotic family. Coerced by her father into a seductive relationship at a very young age, she was commanded to "never tell Mommy." Unknowingly, she became the pawn that was sacrificed to hold her parents' stormy marriage together. Half a century later, as the author explores the abyss of her childhood, she is reminded that there was also great joy. NEVER TELL MOMMY shares the colorful, as well as painful adventures she had growing up in Los Angeles during the turbulent 1930s and 40s surrounded by eccentric relatives, ethnically diverse friends, and glimmers of the bright lights of Hollywood.

In this gripping memoir, Jackie E. shows us that the past is no longer an enemy, and leaves us hopeful that, despite childhood trauma, we can all live extraordinary and fulfilling lives.
