Children's Literature - Gail Krause

Drew grew too big for his clothes. His mother gathered old clothing from his brothers' rooms and mended them for Drew. He ended up with a whole outfit of old clothes, though they were new to him. The one thing missing was a new pair of shoes. Mother took him to the shoe store to buy a pair of red sneakers. He ended up with a whole new outfit from head to toe. This book presents familiar topics using common words. Though an attempt at an emergent reader audience, this book has no real story and is boring even for preschool children. The primitive illustrations do nothing to help the story, and neither holds a child's attention.
