Gr 5-8 With Nicaragua so much in the news lately, this slim volume will serve as a good introduction to the country . Hanmer presents the country physically, historically, and politically in a fair and interesting manner. As might be expected, the political aspects receive the majority of attention. Without taking sides on the issue, Hanmer manages to present varying viewpoints of the current political struggle in Nicaragua today. It is disappointing that the well done text is accompanied by only one sparsely-detailed map and a handful of photographs, none of which are in color and most of which relate to the political struggle.
