Non-repudiation, explains Zhou, is a security service that creates, collects, validates, and maintains digital signatures and other cryptographic evidence in electronic transactions to support the settlement of possible disputes. A security consultant with a large computer company, he sets out the fundamental aspects of the service, including typical disputes that could arise in electronic transactions and the general goals of the service; the types, elements, and the validity of evidence used in the dispute resolution; and the technical infrastructure and legal framework for providing the service in electronic commerce.
