Synopsis
Review A fast-paced story line...a winner. Readers will appreciate this strong whodunit.-- "Midwest Book Reviews"Brisk dialogue and rapid-fire action sequences...The yarn entertains with a little network gossip and a short lesson in bio-terror, all seen through the eyes of a network producer who starts out fearing for her job and ends up fearing for her life.-- "Publishers Weekly"Clark has perfected the lightweight suspense novel, where in classic Christie fashion, everyone is a potential suspect.-- "Booklist"Mary Jane Clark has a gift for writing page-turners.-- "Mary Higgins Clark"The dexterity in keeping so many guilty-looking characters afloat at once and the revelation of a truly surprising killer make Clark's sixth dispatch from KEY News her best.-- "Kirkus Reviews" Product Description Botulism, malaria, small pox, plague. As medical producer for the highly rated morning news program Key to America, Annabelle Murphy makes her living explaining these horrific conditions to the nation. But when someone dies inside the broadcast center with symptoms terrifyingly similar to those of the scourge on which Annabelle has just reported, panic spreads. As one death leads to another, the circumstances suggest that these may be diabolically executed murders. And when authorities lock down the broadcast center, neither victims nor murderer can escape. About the Author Mary Jane Clark, a New York Times bestselling author, worked at CBS News for nearly three decades. Her KEY News thrillers were inspired by that experience. Envisioning the Piper Donovan/Wedding Cake mystery series, she enrolled in cake-decorating classes and researched unique wedding locations. The daughter of an FBI agent and a mother who customized cakes for the neighborhood kids when she was growing up, Mary Jane has two grown children and splits her time between Florida and New Jersey.Angela Pierce's theater credits include Proof, The Best Man, Suddenly Last Summer, and The Rivals, among others. Her television and film credits include Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, All My Children, and Uncertainty Principle. She is a graduate of the Julliard School and currently resides in New York City. From AudioFile Annabelle Murphy has a lot on her plate--two young children, a fire-fighter husband with post traumatic stress syndrome, and a stressful job as medical producer for a morning news show. When a grandstanding news anchor brings a vial of anthrax to the show and another producer dies of the disease, things go into high gear. As the author works for CBS News, it's no surprise that the text is a series of sound bites (151 chapters). Hearing "Chapter . . . " every few minutes, or even seconds, is disrupting. The cast of characters, some well painted vocally, is no surprise either--the ingénue on the make, the lecherous news anchor, the driven station manager. But Angela Pierce's steady narration keeps the production moving with some good scenes, interesting medical lore, and a plot that keeps the listener guessing.
