Nuevos Pasos: Chicano and Puerto Rican Drama is a collection of eight plays by the most renowned Chicano and Puerto Rican playwrights. The collection includes: The Interview, by Ron Arias; Brujerias, by Rodrigo Duarte-Clarke; Sun Images, by Estela Portillo-Trambley; Rancho Hollywood, by Carlos Morton; Manolo, by Ruben Sierra; The FM Safe, by Jaime Carrero; Olu Clemente, by Miguel Algarin and Tato Laviera; and The Sun Always Shines for the Cool, by Miguel Pinero. An introduction, written by the editors, is included.These plays "illustrate the editors' statement that Spanish-speaking people, despite being uprooted and/or converted to minority status, maintain a sense of identity and community through theater, a tradition that began in the sixteenth century with Spanish missionaries".
