Its 14 chapters by contributing authors are grouped into three parts: Organization for Health Care; The Business of Health Care; and The Future of Health Care. Its purpose is to prepare beginning advanced practice nurses to function in the current healthcare delivery system. The book is intended as a textbook for undergraduate professional nursing students, but it would also be valuable for graduate (MSN) core study and for health management students. The illustrations are well chosen and clearly detail and support the discussions. Multiple references are offered, and the table of contents is well titled and has an orderly flow. The book is attractive and easy to read; the bolding of key words is helpful. Perhaps a photo or two would have been helpful. This book is current and comprehensive. It presents an intense amount of information with clarity, relevance, and a scholarly order for learning. The authors are focused and objective in fulfilling the purpose of the book. The reader is stimulated to do additional research to complement the primary presentation. I recommend purchase of this book by libraries, bookstores, and individuals, and I encourage all teaching faculty in organizational administrative programs to acquire this book.
