Originally published in 1907, Old Indian Days contains Eastman's recollections of life among the Sioux. Studies of daily life, struggle, war, and peace, including the 1862 Sioux Uprising, make up the majority of this collection, as well as retellings of such classic Native American myths and legends as "The Singing Spirit" and "The Love of Antelope."

About the Author, Charles Eastman

Charles Alexander Eastman (1858-1939) was a Native American writer, physician, and activist. His Souix and Anglo-American roots allowed him to straddle both worlds in medicine and in working tirelessly for the betterment of all Native Americans. For this he received the first Indian Achievement Award in 1933.
