Children's Literature -
There is a lot happening in this touch and feel, lift-the-flap book. The rhyming text invites readers to play hide-and-seek. They are also supposed to find the lynx and chipmunk lurking on each spread. The text also asks questions about the creatures or asks that readers count the number of birds, insects and the like. There doesn't seem to be much purpose to the text and there is no pattern to the lift the flap sequences. It is busy and may keep kids occupied, but unless adults know the creatures themselves, they are going to have to undertake research to provide specific names to the birds, insects and flowers.Book Details
