Synopsis
Gary Peters was born in London in October 1960. From an early age he became somewhat of an enigma. Choosing not to have many friends, or sometimes none at all, he drifted through primary and secondary schooling without much notice, adamant to leave as soon as he could. The consideration of further education at a college or university was never an option in his mind. He left home at sixteen and was still very much alone; as an escape, he took to drink. By his own admission he was a practicing alcoholic by the time he was twenty. Drifting from job to job and relationship to relationship with only little or no success at all in either, and with two fouled marriages behind him (the first lasting ten years and the second lasting only ten weeks), he was still drinking heavily and also addicted to cocaine. Remarkably, he found his way into a career in acting. Against the odds, considering his lifestyle at the time, it was during this life period that he found his way into a number of recovery programs. With many trips on and off the wagon along the way, and with the help of certain people and organisations, he became free of cocaine and alcohol. Gary continued to pursue his acting, with moderate success by his mid-thirties, and he had made enough money to form his own theatre and film production company, which for a short time was very successful. However, due to increasing problems within his personal life, which for the first time was not a result of alcohol or drugs, this all came to a abrupt end. It was then that he decided to leave England to live in Spain for a while, where he returned, as he had many times over the years, to his first love of writing. However, in 2001, Gary returned to the UK, where he still lives alone, through choice, choosing his friends wisely and still living clean of cocaine and alcohol.Book Details
