Humphrey, one of our fine contemporary outdoor writers, here gathers together 13 of his previously published pieces (nine of which originally appeared in Sports Illustrated ). Humphrey is a tad more sophisticated and urbane than many other practitioners of his particular craft; it is not unusual for Goethe, Chagall, or the Metropolitan Opera to make cameo appearances in these largely autobiographical writings. While fishing remains the primary subject, hunting also gets some attention. The lead piece, ``My Moby Dick,'' is one of the more famous fishing stories of the past 20 years and was previously published in book form (1978). Particularly suitable for public libraries lacking a representative sampling of Humphrey's work. David J. Panciera, Westerly P.L., R.I.Book Details
