Synopsis
Drawn from a September 2002 workshop, the 13 articles in this collection explore optimal control methods and differential games in economics and management science. Several of the papers apply optimal control and dynamical systems approaches to the analysis of problems in illicit drug use, monetary policy, and debt financing. Other topics include computation of Markov perfect Nash equilibria without Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations, the relationship between foreign direct investment and technology transfer, and the pricing of a natural resource in a randomly furcating environment.
