Overview
Like its predecessor, Organic Synthesis Highlights II surveys recent accomplishments and current trends in synthetic organic chemistry.Part I describes new methods and reagents including asymmetric carbon-carbon bond formation with metallocenes and with enzymes, via temporary silicon connections, and by means of carbohydrate complexes. Part II describes landmarks in the synthesis of natural products and surveys synthetic strategies to different classes of natural products.
The forty essays in this volume bear witness to the creativity and talent which have led to the recent advances in the field. Both advanced students and researchers active in the field will welcome this as a source of ideas and inspiration.
Editorials
Booknews
A collection of 40 articles which survey recent accomplishments and current trends in synthetic organic chemistry. The first part of the volume describes new methods and reagents and covers results from the fields of asymmetric synthesis, organometallic chemistry, and biocatalysis. The second part details the applications of these methods in the development of new routes to classes of natural products and to individual target compounds including calicheamicin and rapamicin. The articles are updated and revised from their original appearance, 1988-1993, in the members' journal of the German Chemical Society. Annotation c.
