About the Author, George Ostertag

George Ostertag has been exploring Oregon and the Pacific Northwest for more than twenty years, uncovering the region's prized haunts and raptures. As a professional nature and travel photographer, he has worked independently and in collaboration with his author-wife, Rhonda, to produce numerous books and articles. They settled in the Northwest for its outdoor ethic and its great diversity: mountains, ocean, deserts, valleys, rural heartlands, and cutting-edge cities. With such variety, Ostertag's shutter is seldom still. He is out in all kinds of weather and up before the first break of light.

George has collaborated on nearly twenty guidebooks and hundreds of articles. His photography commonly pops up in calendar pages and postcard racks. His most recent title is Voyageur Press' Backroads of Oregon (2005).
