In this title golf facts are connected to each letter of the alphabet. The rhyming style is catchy; however, the alliteration used could possible make it more difficult to read aloud. Every page contains a side panel filled with the origin of the subject being discussed. For example, when youngsters reads "E is a round of eighteen holes" they also learn that it was Scotland that the first course consisting of 18 holes. Even difficult letters such as "X" are handled perfectly by stating that, "X marks the spot where the ball lands on the green." The illustrations are excellent and give the reader both information and pleasure. Picking an age group for this book is difficult—a young child will enjoy the rhyme and pictures while an older child can use the information found in the side panels to learn about golf. I definitely recommend this book for the ESL student and students who struggle with reading. Author Herzog has managed to reach a wide range of young people.
