Overview

Stencils are back - bigger, bolder, and more fun than ever. Blend images, colors, and materials to create lovely, lavish quilts. Master stencil designer, quilt artist, and teacher Marie Sturmer shares her beautiful stencil design patterns with quilters, crafters, and hobbyists. Learn the Trace & Transfer technique. Detailed instructions are given for coloring in the shapes by dry-brushing, pouncing, streaking, and circular motions, all done with acrylic paints. The author also describes a fun way to add texture from found objects, such as hardware cloth, plastic onion bags, and even chicken wire! These charming patterns can be used for appliqué, embroidery, and scrapbooking, and they are also useful for stenciling on walls, wood, and craft projects - any place a colored medium can be applied.
