K-Gr 2-These well-designed, well-organized crafts books require rudimentary materials and basic skills. The same introduction in both titles discusses the need to recycle household items and cites statistics about the enormous quantities of trash generated annually. Although the projects are not unusual, the books are handy resources for items that do not require too much preplanning or fuss and muss. Each activity is described in a spread and begins with a materials/equipment list. The steps are clearly numbered, and the directions are easy to understand. Warnings about potential hazards are provided. Cup gives instructions for a pyramid, ghost, telephone, robot, windmill, and more. Plate shows how to make Halloween pumpkin masks, string art, necklaces, a snake, a sun catcher, etc. The bright, color illustrations of the completed objects and steps are realistic and precise. Young crafters and adults who work with them will appreciate these titles.-Lynda Ritterman, Atco Elementary School, Waterford, NJ Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information.Book Details
