Synopsis

The "alternative" cultural producers interviewed in this volume, including artists, filmmakers, and writers, claim to be challenging and resisting the "mainstream." Contributors to this volume question whether they are parasites, cleverly exploiting the system that supports them or whether they are creating "para-sites"independent new spaces of critical awareness alongside or on the periphery of the systems they serve.
