Overview
Tall, handsome, cultured, Parry was England's first hero explorer of the nineteenth century . In fact, in 1819-20, he almost got through the much-sought-after North West Passage before being stopped by impenetrable ice. It would be thirty years before another vessel would travel that far. Parry made other voyages to the Arctic but his real achievement has less to do with his heroic travels and more with his largely successful determination to keep his crews healthy in body and in mind in the forbidding frozen world.Book Details
