The purpose is to teach future caregivers the tools to meet both the physical and emotional needs of the patient. The primary audience for this book is the radiography student, although this book will also be a valuable tool for experienced radiographers. The illustrations are extremely informative and well presented. The references are more than adequate and appropriate. The comprehensive index of abbreviations, the chapter objectives, and the contrast media table are valuable features that enhance the educational value of the book. The table of contents and index are user-friendly. This is a very well-written, well-organized, and user-friendly book. The chapters flow very well. The book presents extremely valuable information and would be very useful for radiography students and experienced radiographers. I highly recommend this book to any radiography program.

The purpose is to provide the reader with appropriateknowledge and relevant information regarding basic aspects of patientcare. The design of the text covers not only patient care, but safetyfor the radiographer as well. The targeted audience is the studentradiographer, as well as the practicing radiologic technologist who mayuse it as a reference. The book offers a wide variety of topicsassociated with patient care. These topics include the basic historyof x-ray, safety and legalities for the radiographer and various areasof patient assessment, communication, infection control, and emergencysituations. It also features a vocabulary list and objectives for eachchapter. This fifth edition is a slightly expanded version of thefourth edition. The chapters on safety for the patient as well as theradiographer, and preparation and examination of the gastrointestinaltract are well done and have illustrations that are excellent teachingtools. There are, however, several other illustrations that seemunnecessary and are not the best quality.
