This book from the "Math All Around" series does a superb job of presenting information in regard to math patterns. The terms "pattern rules" and "a growing number sequence" are defined. In addition, children are shown patterns using clear photos of twigs and leaves, beans, squash, peppers, ladybugs, stones, a rainbow, and seasons. Snowflakes, some leaves, and wings of a bright Monarch butterfly are used to show symmetry. All visuals are exceptionally good at getting across the meaning of the text. Large print and only a few sentences per page keep the information simple and understandable. This book offers a good way to expose children to some objects they may never see in real life. The entire series offers unique ways to expose children to math that can be found in the world around them. A concise glossary, index, and added sources round out the text.
