K-Gr 3-This interesting introduction to the world of the North American porcupine presents the life cycle and habits of the unusual rodent. Each page of text is accompanied by a full-color photograph that usually illustrates a point made in the narrative. However, in several places, the pictures are not on target. On one page, Murray mentions two species of porcupine; only one of them is shown, and there is no caption to indicate which one it is. An attractive but flawed introduction to these prickly creatures.-Barbara B. Murphy, Shaler Area School District Libraries, PittsburghBook Details
