School Library Journal

Gr 1-4 Up-to-date information in the same format as Johnson's Fire Fighters A to Z Walker, 1985, for children who are fascinated with law enforcement. Johnson takes youngsters through the alphabet, from A accident to Z zone map. In between are such words as gun, jail, and uniform. Each term has a brief paragraph of explanation and is illustrated with a large black-and-white photograph. A section at the end includes more information about police officers. Police Childrens, 1981 by Broekel has attractive color photographs, but Johnson's book will still find an audience with those kids who gather around a display of books on law enforcement. Harriet Otto, Cheyenne Public Schools, Wyo.
