School Library Journal

Gr 9 Up-An introductory chapter in each book details the history of the topic from a legal standpoint; subtopics are dealt with in point/counterpoint chapters, and concluding chapters sum up the arguments. Features include boxed questions, primary-source information from the actual rulings in specific cases, and sidebars that detail the specific law that applies in each example. Unlike similar titles in a number of other series, these books were written by individual authors and offer clear, well-supported theories that make use of many examples. A few illustrations appear in each title. Each book concludes with notes, lists of books and Web resources, and suggestions for "Beginning Legal Research." While not for novices, these volumes have a definite place in libraries where material on these topics is needed for more adept readers and researchers.-Lynn Evarts, Sauk Prairie High School, Prairie du Sac, WI Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
