Political Lives offers a selection of mini-biographies taken from the Dictionary of National Biography. Approximately 100 articles are gathered here, covering some of the most important figures in British political life of the last century.

Hugo Young has been a political columnist on the Guardian since 1984. Before that he was a leader-writer, investigative journalist and political columnist on the Sunday Times. He was named Columnist of the Year in the British Press Awards 1980, 1983 and 1985, and was honoured by Granada TV's What The Papers Say in 1985.
