Children's Literature

Pomeranian: Pom Pom Ado is part of the "Little Dogs Rock!" series of books by Bearport Publishing geared to the 7- to 12-year-old child interested in learning more about small dog breeds. The book is filled with a variety of interesting chapters including "Little Lifesaver," "Toothless Wonder," "Sled Dogs to Small Dogs," "Small Size, Large Responsibility," and "Poms in the Spotlight." Most of the photographs are a bit grainy and large; however, there are some that include a child interacting with this small breed. This book may be a good starting point for the child considering adding a Pomeranian to the family. It includes a wide-range of important discussion topics for would-be Pom owners including "Pom Pom Problems" and "Training a Pom," and the final pages featuring "Pomeranians at a Glance" and "Best in Show" give basic details on life expectancy, weight, personality, and even the things a judge would look for in the dog show ring. The 25-word glossary includes many words that are not directly related to the Pomeranian. The bibliography, "Read More" section, and "Learn More Online" pagesoffer opportunities for further study and research and may require assistance.
