Library Journal
This book is as much a treatise on the work styles made feasible by portable computers as it is a guide to selecting the right hardware and software. It covers many of the same topics as David Rothman's Complete Laptop Computer Guide (St. Martin's, 1990), such as peripherals and power sources, electronic mail, and word processors versus personal computers, but the book is less anecdotal and smoother in its presentation. It also includes a lengthy list of ``resources'' for personal computing, providing both address and phone number of the vendors. This list would be considerably more useful if the areas of specialization had been less broad--primary categories are computers, communications, access/supplies/upgrades, peripherals, software, and services.-- Hilary Burton, Lawrence Livermore National Lab, Livermore, Cal.Book Details
