From The Critics

Reviewer: Matthew A. Stein, MD(University of Utah School of Medicine)
Description: This is a concise compilation of anatomy, pathophysiology, and clinical insight relevant to the safe and proficient practice of modern-day catheter neuroangiography.
Purpose: The purpose is to enable the reader to become a more competent neuroangiographer. The initial chapters are primarily concerned with planning, safety, and technical aspects pertinent to the beginning neuroangiographer. The middle chapters offer a cogent description of anatomy and pathophysiology applicable to a wider range of experience, serving as an introductory text for residents and as a review for fellows and practitioners. The latter chapters provide concise descriptions, treatment options, and practical considerations for the most common disease states encountered by the neuroangiographer. There is also an introduction to interventional techniques that is applicable to the full range of experience.
Audience: The book is written primarily for radiology residents and neuroradiology fellows, although there is much that the practicing neuroangiographer may find of benefit.
Features: The book is well bound with high-quality paper. The radiographic images are of good quality and number. The drawings and diagrams are intuitive and well placed within the text. The text is concise at 408 pages and is well supported by recent pertinent references. The index is sufficiently inclusive.
Assessment: I highly recommend this book for the target audience. It is concise, well organized, and extremely relevant to the beginning neuroangiographer. This book provides a sound base in anatomy and pathophysiology as it applies to the clinical setting and provides sensible strategies for improving safety and technical competency in the angiography suite.
