Gr 3-6-An attractive but unfortunately second-rate compendium of animals, alphabetically arranged. Kallen presents an endangered creature (or sometimes a class of creatures) for each letter. A double-page spread is devoted to each one, with encyclopedic information related in a simple manner, and accompanied by a large, full-color photograph. Unfortunately, many of the illustrations are not clear or show only part of the animal. A list of organizations that protect wildlife, a glossary, and a useful bibliography are appended.
