Children's Literature
The night after Sam opened his just-what-he-asked-for Christmas present, he dreamed about Santa Claus. He dreamed that Santa was back at the North Pole and looking very sad; he had traveled all over the world on Christmas Eve and given everyone else presents, but nobody had given him one. It wasn't fair! So Sam decided to buy a present for Santa. All year long, he saved his pocket money; when winter came, his money box was nearly full. Two weeks before Christmas, Sam wrote Santa a letter that read: "This year I want to give you a present because I don't think anyone else will, and it's not fair that you should give so many presents and never, ever be given one." He invited Santa to stop by on Christmas Eve. But there was a big problem. What could Sam give Santa? Something to wear? Something to play with? Something to eat? Sam had no idea. When Christmas Eve arrived, there was no present waiting for Santa. Was Sam able to explain why he had no present? Did Santa understand? This is a Christmas story with a delightful (if not unexpected) ending. Young readers will love the colorful illustrations, the many pop-ups and the amazing three-dimensional cottage with "real windows" that invite readers to come up close and peek inside!
