Library Journal

Combining historical fiction and personal reflections, Fischer considers the nature of the Roman Catholic priesthood, both historically and as revealed in various studies done since Vatican II. He is optimistic about the future of the Roman Catholic priesthood, denying that it is in crisis. Although the literary quality of his work leaves something to be desired, it shows strong research and much thought. Accessible to the average reader, it is nevertheless directed to seminarians and prospective seminarians. Recommended for Roman Catholic high school and seminary libraries. Augustine J. Curley, Newark Abbey, N.J.
