Prism is a nonprofit organization promoting the work of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered creators of comics, and addresses LGBT issues in comics in general. This annual serves as a handy, inexpensive source of information about creators, titles, and publishers. The current issue includes five feature articles, interviews with five creators, excerpts from seven comics, a lengthy list of creator profiles, and several pages of further resources. The quality, art, and approach of the excerpts vary widely, spanning angst, high fantasy, humor, and drama. Standouts include Lawrence Schimel and Sara Rojo Perez's "The Anniversary," a cute vignette about two boys with gay parents-one with two fathers and one with two mothers; and an excerpt from Brian K. Vaughn & Tony Harris's Ex Machina, where the mayor chooses to defy the polls and perform a marriage ceremony uniting a gay couple. A nice addition to LGBT collections.-M.C.
