The International Library of Law and Legal Theory is designed to provide important research materials in an accessible form, each volume containing essays of central theoretical importance in its subject area. The Areas section of the series takes in the main branches of the law with an emphasis on essays which present analytical and theoretical insights of broad application. The present work is in two volumes, available individually (for $150) or as a set. The essays in Volume I, The Concept of "Privacy" (9264-2), represent some of the best attempts to elucidate the concept of "privacy." While a number of the essays proceed from an explicitly legal viewpoint, their major and in most cases central objective is to offer a definition (either for the law or more generally) of this difficult idea. The essays in Volume II, Privacy and the Law (9265-0), trace the principal features of the legal evolution of the "right of privacy" in both constitutional and tort law. Annotation c.
