Synopsis

Sometimes even mathematicians need love, or at least textbooks that are easy to read. Durrett (math, Cornell University) heard the call and produced an amazingly readable introduction to probability that still manages to be challenging and rigorous enough to serve as the basis for a graduate level course. Probability theory is grounded in measure theory, and some experience in that field will be very useful to potential readers; but there are enough definitions and exercises at the beginning of the book to allow a determined reader without that background to struggle through.
