This volume contains the papers presented at the fifth Symposium on the Processing and Fabrication of Advanced Materials held in Cincinnati, Ohio in October 1996. The seven- session symposium was sponsored by the Structural Materials Division of The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society (TMS). The 73 papers presented at the symposium are divided into sessions that included metallics; metal-matrix composites (I and II); intermetallics and polymeric materials; coatings, surfaces, and thin films; and Ceramics (I and II).
