This thirty-two page informative book from the "Protecting Habitats" series, offers an extensive view of wetlands of the world. The format of two-page topics with sub-sections allows for this to be highly useful when working on reports. It is also a good addition to any science and geography curriculum aimed at grades four through six. An up-front introduction defines wetlands and a map in the front of the book shows locations of wetlands in the world. Content includes explanations of different kinds of wetlands, as well as plants and animals existing within the system. Added sidebars and captions work to expand main text material. Excellent accompanying photos match the text. Material is comprehensive and clear. Explanations dole out information on why wetlands dry out and how to solve the problems incurred. Effective back matter includes a warning which is meant to broaden readers' awareness in regard to this ecological problem. A glossary comprised of extensive definitions backs up the text, and a resource page lists web sites with information about wetlands.
