Overview

The theory of pseudo-differential boundary value problems under the aspect of a calculus for concial singularities in normal directions is studied. The transmission property in the set-up of Boutet de Monvel's algebra is a special case discussed, and the theories of Visik and Eskin are considerably expanded.

Based on materials prepared for the students who attended Schulze's lectures on pseudo-differential operators and asymptotics on manifolds, at the Rostock University in 1989/90, this monograph treats the theory of pseudo-differential boundary value problems under the aspect of a calculus for conical singularities. Here the inner normal of the boundary is regarded as the model cone of a wedge with the boundary as edge. Chapter 1 is a survey of the cone theory. Chapter 2 deals with pseudo-differential boundary value problems as a special case of edge theory. Distributed by VCH. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
