Purpose: The author conveys a working knowledge of radiologic science to radiologic technologists and helps to prepare radiologic technology students for their certification examination. This significant task is accomplished in a single volume.
Audience: The primary audience of this book, radiologic technologists and students of radiologic technology, will find useful new concepts in this, the sixth edition. Topics are introduced and developed logically and clearly, typically within the context of clinical radiography. The book is self-contained.
Features: There are hundreds of excellent color photographs, diagrams, and graphs throughout the book. They are well done and clearly enhance the subject matter. The material is very current and includes a large section dedicated to special x-ray imaging. The references are similarly current. Useful tables contain conversions, units, formulas, and a glossary. A chapter summary and a set of review questions with answers appear at the end of each chapter.
Assessment: This is an excellent publication. It provides the primary audience with a single reference for current information in a logical and easy-to-read format. They are also valuable reference tools for experienced radiographers and radiography instructors. This attractive text is extremely well-designed and well-organized. The illustrations, tables, charts, graphs, cartoons, and caricatures provide for quick and easy understanding of the concepts described text. The workbook's crossword puzzles are excellent motivational tools for students. This is a very well-organized and designed textbook. This text is definitely enhanced and complimented by its companion workbook. Both will be valuable educational tools for any radiography curriculum.
