Gr 1-3-Three introductory books that feature simple sentences and one full-color photograph or illustration per spread (some are simply filler). Each man is worthy of admiration, deserving better than these bland biographies. Supposedly written at a level young children can understand, they merely recite facts, easily accessible on-line. Even an encyclopedia article would create more interest. Clearly organized and certainly meeting state standards of learning, they may meet the needs of school libraries for beginning research, but they are unlikely to inspire interest in the individuals featured.-Pamela K.
