Overview

This book is written primarily for architecture students rather than engineering and engineering technology students. The graphics will have a large appeal to architecture students as will the explorations of the theories and behavior. There are unique and easy-to-use graphs for the preliminary design of beams and columns, without having to do computations. Also, there is a good discussion of indeterminate frame behavior, and methods are presented illustrating how one can readily estimate the approximate design moment values. There are chapters devoted to system planning and the overall design as well. Emphasis is placed on developing an understanding of the behavior of concrete elements and systems.
