Library Journal

The theme of this work seems to be common ground, the balance between people and nature; its goal is to educate lay people about conservation ethics for trees and forestland. Author Jordan and partner Donna Jordan are not writers, just two individuals with an avid interest in forest stewardship. Part 1 offers background information, Part 2 discusses forest conservation, Part 3 is a history of conservation, and Part 4 serves as a summary. There are a number of interesting tables that will make this a handy resource guide for public libraries. One of a number of current books dealing with forest conservation (Clearcut: The Tragedy of Industrial Forestry, LJ 5/1/94), this is recommended for larger environmental collections.-Amy L. Paster, Pennsylvania State Univ. Lib., University Park
