From The Critics
Reviewer: Moshin Ali, DDS(University of Chicago Medical Center)Description: This first edition is presented in two sections. Section one includes the authors' philosophy for removable partial denture design, and the second section reviews case reports.
Purpose: The purpose is to bridge the gap between a detailed text on removable partial prosthodontics and a design atlas. However, the need for such a text could be argued.
Audience: The authors are aiming the book at general practitioners and dental students. However, because of the complex nature of the subject, this book will not be useful to students. The authors are respected teachers and experts in the field of prosthodontics.
Features: This book contains line drawings, some black-and-white pictures of the casts, and a few radiographs. The absence of any clinical pictures is a limitation. An index and a useful list of references are included at the end of the book.
Assessment: This handy and attractive manual highlights the important points in designing removable partial dentures and presents the steps for treatment planning of partially dentate cases. This book will be helpful to general practitioners in reviewing the design principles; however, it is not an alternative to a detailed textbook in this subject.
