Humans, though of the same species, are very different from one another. Differences in race, economics, ethnic background, political beliefs and religion sometimes separate us from people that we could learn from and be friends with. Keeping with the theme of the series "Global Citizenship," this book explores the differences between people and challenges kids to celebrate these differences rather that fear them. Each section examines a different aspect of culture, such as family or religion. One key feature of this particular book is its many case studies highlighting many groups that are typically ignored in American culture. The book concludes with a study of prejudice and discrimination. Throughout the book, the four young guides pop up to give readers advice on how to respect differences in their daily lives.
